So my big exams are one week and two days away but more importantly I got to catch up with my good friend Lara last night. Lara is actually one of my first real friends here in the Springs and I hadn't seen her in about a year due to her crazy travelling and my insane school schedule. It was fun to spend some time together again and I might have convinced her to move to CA with me next year if I get my internship! :)

Another Thursday Night in Chamois!
One more night in chamois and one week close to collegiate nats! Actually, last night was fun; although a little scary b/c of the newbie collegiate girls learning to ride/race the track in the same four hour period. When I started, you had to take a clinic before racing so not sure how they got to race last night but it was definitely sketchy at times! But more exciting than checking out my competition was that my favorite little one-year-old was in the stands watching! If you look closely, you can see Christa, Joel, and Amber hanging out.
And just as exciting to see Amber in the stands, I was psyched to see my good friend Amy in the infield! I haven't seen Amy in forever so it was fun to catch up and race with her last night!

Another Roommate Hitched
In the midst of moving madness over the weekend, I headed down to Westcliffe for Anne and Jeremy's wedding. While the weather looked a little foreboding, the rain happened before the ceremony and the winds died off during the reception so it was a nice evening in the mountains.
Although, in this picture T and I were definitely getting blown around! I was so excited to catch up with Teresa as I have barely seen her this year due to our busy schedules. She was my camping mate last year on our backpacking trip and we had a nice view of Crestone Needle during the wedding ceremony.
More roomies...actually, we all survived the Platte house together at one point or another. That place was definitely an experience and we will always be able to make fun of the ridiculousness of it!
PS: Mandy and Levi, know that we were all talking about how much we wished you were there and how much we missed you!!! Much love!!!

Pinkie Update

For those of you with a strong stomach, this is the most recent development of my frostbitten pinkie...the entire top 2/3 thirds have peeled and I am working on second and third layers of peeling. Yes it's gross and now we definitely know it is possible to frostbite a pinkie in less than 15 minutes with an ice pack. Glad I had the opportunity to check that out!

Hooray for Track Racing!

Tonight was round two of Thursday night track racing. It was a lot more fun than the first race as we had a pretty big field for the woman and it was quite competitive. I did not win but had a few good attacks and am remembering how to race again...it's interesting how my brain takes a little while to warm up to track racing every year. Pretty much, I tend to think to much and just need to go instead...which I did tonight but a lap too early in one race. Oops! And tonight was fun because Eric and Laura came out to cheer me on! :)

Big Day For Kate

So, you may remember I got my first therapy client around this time last year. Well, now a year later, I was invited to join one of my professors in her private practice to help co-facilitate an eating disorder group. It is quite an honor as she is one of the best profs on staff and an incredible person to learn from. And, in addition, I was asked to join another professor in his private practice which will start in August. Only one year of classes left and then it is time to swim in the big pond!

Congrats Becky and Joe!
I spent the past few days in Fort Wayne, IN for Becky and Joe's wedding. Beck is one of my best friends from college so there was no way I was going to miss the big day even if it meant spending 48 hours in the Fort!
Although, knowing the only people I would know at the wedding were Becky and her family, I asked Ben to come up from Bloomington. Those of you who know me well know I can be persuasive when need be; in this case, I definitely had to use my skills of persuasion to convince him going to a wedding where he would know nobody in Fort Wayne would be fun.
But I did run into some girls I knew from good ol' Alpha Phi (Beck and I were in the same sorority). This is my "great grandbaby" Val...she was in the freshman pledge class my senior year. Ironically, her fiance is really good friends with Becky's now husband.
A Phi reunion! There were actually quite a few of us at the wedding: Me and Val, Beck, her "baby" and "grandbaby" and Julie...Beck's real life sister, I am not sure of her A Phi family though.
Saturday afternoon they had a brunch so the out-of-towners could spend more time with Becky and Joe. It was fun to spend more time with Beck as we rarely get to see each other and are in a constant state of phone tag.

Hysterical Randomness
Crystal's mom gave her some pajama pants for her birthday recently. We have had lot of fun making fun of them for a couple of days and last night decided to try them on...with all three of us in them! This was round 1 of trying to move as a single unit...as you can see, it was quite the experiement!
And one last shot...in the pants that is...there are more pictures to come but you'll just have to wait as I am off to Fort Wayne, In for the weekend!

Poor Little Pinky

Even though I am in a doctorate program and have a degree in sports medicine, I sometimes make some pretty stupid decisions when taking care of myself. In this instance, I managed to frostbite (literally! this picture does not do justice to the true trauma) my pinky Saturday afternoon after shutting it in my car door. After shutting it in the door, I wanted to ice it before swelling took place. Well, I was a little distracted and stuck it right in the ice pack without a cloth covering it. I managed to endure the pain of the ice freezing (literally...it was completely white when I took it out!) my pinky and tried to sleep that night while it felt like my heart was in the tip of my finger. Fortunately, I have feeling and sensations so I don't think the damage is permanent. Lesson learned: Don't put your pinky right in an ice pack...earlier this spring I learned to not sit directly on an ice pack (freezer burn!)...hopefully I have all of my ice pack lessons learned now!

Quality Time with Classmates

Last night one of my classmates invited a bunch of us over for a Fajita Party. It was fun to hangout with everybody in a non-school setting and we barely talked about psychology...okay, maybe a few times but I think everybody was relieved to laugh alot and forget about school for a night. These are a few of my classmates that I spend a lot of time with, the others were downstairs playing pool...she lives with her parents hence the awesome view and gameroom.

Lucky Number 9!
Okay, so maybe 9 isn't my lucky number, but it is my official season number at the track so it better become lucky! :)
Despite the decieving blue skies in this picture, we actually got lucky and were able to race last night. It rained all day long but started to dry out by late afternoon and racing was on! At last, the long awaited track season has come!

Finally, Sunday after church and training, I went up to Denver for City Park Jazz...yes, there was a race IN City Park that morning but I choose to stay home and train instead. Check it out, all four of us are Hoosiers and two Little 500 vets!
