Jury Duty
I am jury duty standby right now, that means I have to call in at 11:30am and if they do not have a jury selected from this morning, I have to report in. I am hoping it won't come to that though I have gotten some good ideas for being dismissed. So far I have:
Stress my education-they don't want psychologists
Be very opionated-they want people they can sway
Act prejudice or like a jerk-ie:you already assume the guy is guilty
Hopefully it won't come to needed any of those though...let's hope so!

The Not-so-Famous John Watson
In case you are wondering what I am doing all week while freezing in Colorado...I am reading as much as I can and writing my rough draft on John Watson. He was actually the guy who started the behaviorism movement at the turn of the century though Skinner is more well known. If you have any questions on his school of thought, I am soon to be an expert on the guy!

Goodbye Barbaro

The Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro, was put down today after his recovery became more and more complicated after breaking his leg at the Preakness.

Solo on Mt Lemmon
Since I was riding alone today, I decided to head back to Mt Lemmon. And I was "lucky" enough to ride with Danielle Haulman and her coach for awhile. I rode up to mile 11 when it started to get a bit chilly...
As you can see, there was snow up there! The snow started to show up around mile 9. I rode up to 11 and then decided to turn around as I wasn't sure how much colder it was going to get and I forgot my wind jacket and gloves. But I did get a personal best today...70 minutes at 197 watts! That's pretty good for me! :) (Yes I know I started at 2000 feet but the final 4 miles were over 5000!)

Uh-oh!
I spent the afternoon in the hospital with my athlete strapped to a board and her neck in a cspine immobilizer. After 7 hours, she left the hospital with a chest wall contusion...her friend left with a broken (very broken!) clavicle. Not a good way to end any ride but thankfully nothing too serious. (I am not sure what happened exactly as I was in the front of our little group. A car cut me off, not terribly so but enough to have to sit up and slow down...than I heard screaming and carnage...I did get to ride home in the front seat of the cop car so that all of our bikes could make it back to the condo while they were transported to the hospital though.)

Mt Lemmon
This morning we rode east to the infamous Mt Lemmon...this is a local favorite and winds all the way up to Summerhaven. The wind was crazy with big gusts so we turned around after about 4 miles (of 25) so that we wouldn't blow over the edge...there were some close calls! Aside from the wind, the weather is fantastic though! I definitely do not think I am designed to live in cold climates...technically I have only spent 22 days in Colorado since December 18 and I am already ready for winter to be over!

Heck Ya Baby, I'm in Tucson!!!
And this is the view from my personal balcony...I got hooked up with the master suite and I am getting paid to ride my bike! Life is good! :)

(Oh, and for those of you worried about my lost cell phone...I successfully found it at the airport this afternoon. Must have fallen out of my purse!)

Official Countdown: Two Days until TUCSON!!!
After another snowy weekend and the completion of my 11th straight trainer day in a row, I can officially look forward to heading to Tucson this week...WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! I cannot wait to get out of here for a few days of warm weather riding...heck, I am just excited to ride my bike on the road again! And the weather.com forecast shows 70F and sunny everyday I am there!!! :)

American Gladiator: X Factor Edition
Last night I got to witness the home version of American Gladiator with the youth group. The kids had five events to participate in and "Hot Air" was by far the most entertaining. The kids had to blow two raw eggs (one was not enough mass) through the tube onto the other person. The result was a lot of raw eggs spewing across the room as it made it to one end...it was disgusting and hysterical at the same time!

"24" With the Girls
Eric decided to fully embrace watching 24 with us girls by wearing our clothes...he complains about our screaming and yelling while Jack is taking out terrorists but I think he really likes it!

It's that time again...24 Season Premiere!!!
Two hours tonight and two hours tomorrow night...the last season ended with Jack being held hostage by the Chinese!
Playoffs: Chargers vs Patriots
I am definitely wearing my Chargers shirt today...though instead of watching the game I will be cooped up in the library.

We have a visitor!

Living in an old house plus cold weather equals visitors...yup, we have a mouse in the house! Sick...and what's worse, I found little presents left behind in my jerseys! Now, that is gross! Though I am not sure if finding that or a dead mouse will be worse...hopefully I don't find the dead mouse at all, that's what roommates are for! :)

Renee, can I borrow Buddha and Pest...do they know how to hunt?!

BURRRRRRR!Six degrees...that's how warm it is right now...seriously, not cool! Yesterday was 55F and I nearly blew off the road, today freezing cold and on the rollers again. At least I head to Tucson in less than two weeks!

Bye Bye Bethie
After a delicious breakfast at Wooglins, I had to drop Beth off at the airport this morning. I won't get to see her again for probably about 8 months! :(
Check it out! My hair is long enough for pony tails these days! And since I was wishing I was back in San Diego (it's 80F right now!) I wore my Hollywood sunglasses

Fun Times with Friends!
Bethie and I checked out Ned's Cafe in Manitou yesterday...the omlet was tasty but the granola encrusted french toast definitely left something to be desired.
This morning Beth, Mary and I went to the Pantry in Green Mountain Falls. If you live in Colorado Springs and have never eaten there you need too, they have the best breakfast in the area!
Then we just messed around in Green Mountain Falls and Garden of the Gods...

Oh, and we saw "The Holiday" this afternoon...very good movie!

Bethie is Finally Here!
So it has taken my best friend in the whole world three years to make it back to the Rockies again, but she is finally here! Woohoo! :)

Thursday, January 04, 2007

Guess who's coming to town today??? (By the way, I am back in snowy Colorado...but the roads are clear enough to ride now and it's 50F...that's not so bad!)

Happy New Year!
We said goodbye to 2006 with dinner at the Beach House during the sunset and watching surfers. I would have to say, it was pretty darn awesome!
2006 in Review: More Spills than Thrills

Add to those my car before Joey was hit by a drunk driver while parked in front of my house and crashing on a training ride this fall...I hope 2007 goes a bit better!
